The Liberty Township Board of Trustees appointed David Greve as the new Liberty Township Assistant Fire Chief at their May 7th Trustee Meeting. Greve is a 32-year veteran of the City of Cincinnati Fire Department (CFD). His fire service career began in 1986 when he joined the CFD as a Firefighter. Greve rose through the ranks within the CFD to Fire Lieutenant and then to Fire Captain and most recently serving as a District Chief for the last seven years.
Greve's hiring completes the command staff implementation which started last spring. The Assistant Fire Chief position will be responsible for overseeing fire inspections, fire prevention and fire service public education. The position has been vacant since 2016 following the retirement of Dan Bailey.
"Dave comes to us with a solid background in fire service and administration. He's been a proven leader in the City of Cincinnati and I'm excited for him to join our leadership team. He also has a construction background which will be a great asset to the LTFD. It's an exciting time to join the Township and I look forward to is leadership as we continue to plan for the community's future growth," said Ethan Klussman, Fire Chief, Liberty Township Fire Department.
Greve's first day will be May 28th although he looks forward to some opportunities to get to know the LTFD members prior to his start date.
Greve is a native Cincinnatian and graduate of St. Xavier High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Xavier University and is currently pursuing a master of public administration. He will graduate this year with an MPA in emergency management.
