It’s that time of year when the Liberty Township Fire Department conducts their annual fire hydrant flushing. During the month of May and into June their crews will be checking all public fire hydrants in Liberty Township to assure that they are in good working condition. It is difficult to establish a set schedule as the department conducts the flushing when weather and schedule permits. They ask that residents maintain a minimum of 3’ clear access around the hydrants for proper access.
Occasionally, flushing may stir up sediment in the water mains resulting in a cloudy appearance; the water is safe and will often clear up if left to run for a little while.
