On April 8, 2024, Butler County will be the prime location for viewing the 

2024 Total Solar Eclipse! 

The next time that Ohio will be in the path of totality is 2099! 

Total Solar Eclipse Facts

  • Last one in Ohio was in 1806
  • Only 15 visible in U.S. since 1867
  • The last one in 2017 was visible from Oregon to South Carolina
  • The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse will be the last one in North America until 2044
  • The next one in Ohio will be in September 2099

The Eclipse's Pathway

  • Eclipse will travel across Ohio from southwest to northeast
  • Totality will enter Ohio near Greenville, Ohio around 3 p.m. and will exit near Avon Lake, Ohio around 3:10 p.m.
  • Will take about 10 minutes to travel across Ohio
  • Up to 2 - 4 minutes of totality depending on your location
