Township Promotes Two within Services Department
Assistant Services Director Dave Wagner retires after 23 years

The Liberty Township Board of Trustees have promoted two current service department employees to fill vacancies created as a result of 23-year veteran Assistant Services Director David Wagner retiring at the end of 2022.

Gerald Sebald, formerly the Services Foreman, has been promoted to Assistant Services Director and Walter Baker has been named the new Services Foreman. Rick Plummer continues to serve as Director of the Services Department, responsible for Township roads, parks and the cemetery.

Wagner’s retirement comes after dedicating 23 years to the Township Services Department. He admits the community has grown quite a bit during his 23 years of service. He’s seen hundreds of residential lane miles added as the community has developed. Wagner has been an integral part of keeping up with the growth as it relates to servicing the roads, our parks and Spring Hill cemetery. The Township appreciates his dedication and wishes him a happy and healthy retirement. Wagner looks forward to spending more time with his wife Lisa and his grandkids.

Gerald “Jerry” Sebald was first hired by Liberty Township in 2009. In 2018, Sebald was promoted to the newly created Services Foreman position. This new position was designed to facilitate succession planning and to create efficiencies within the department. Sebald has been a key member of the team managing the day-to-day work tasks and developing the position. In his new role, Sebald will take on even more responsibilities as Assistant Services Director. Walter “Buddy” Baker was first hired in 2008 and is being promoted to the Services Foreman position. Baker has been leading the department’s sign shop and training on the work management platform in preparation for his new responsibilities.

“I’m excited to be promoting both Jerry and Buddy into these new roles. The Township has been anticipating Dave’s retirement and creating a leadership structure to support the department for years to come. These two guys have stepped up and have worked hard at developing a leadership style that works with our team. I know the future of the Services Department is in good hands with both Jerry and Buddy taking on their new roles, and I look forward to working more closely with both gentlemen,” said Rick Plummer, Services Director.

Both Sebald and Baker were promoted at the Liberty Township Board of Trustees meeting on December 20 with their new positions being effective January 1, 2023.
