1. Can you help me understand the Lighting Districts in Liberty Township?

Currently, Liberty Township has more than 165 Lighting Districts and 1,600 street lights serving more than 6,400 parcels in the Township. Each September, the Fiscal Office submits an assessment to the County Auditor for each individual parcel – this will show on your property bill under the Assessment Section. Most Lighting Districts are set up when the subdivision is being developed. There are a few that were set up after the subdivision was established.

2. What do I do if there is a problem with a street light?

All street lights are the responsibility of Duke Energy. To report a street light issue, call 513-421-9500.

3. What is the Liberty Township Joint Economic Development District (JEDD)?

In 2006, Liberty Township established a Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) with the cities of Middletown and Mason to provide a source of funding for infrastructure improvements to promote and sustain commercial development along the area surrounding the Liberty Way Interchange. A 1.5% earnings tax is levied on those that work and produce business profits in the JEDD area. The Liberty Township JEDD I encompasses 685 acres around the Liberty Way Interchange and the intersection of Cincinnati Dayton Road and Yankee Road.
